Here, from left to right, I have a Balm Stain in Honey, a Lacquer Balm in Demure, a Lacquer Balm in Whimsical, a Matte Balm in Striking, and a Matte Balm in Sultry.
You an distinguish the difference between each collection by the packaging which I love! The packaging differences are discreet but just enough which makes searching for these bad boys in my collection a dream unlike other lipsticks like MAC ones for example which is quite the task I think you'll agree?
[Top to Bottom: Honey, Demure, Whimsical, Striking, Sultry] |
I think my favorite formulation are the Matte Balms but it is a rather close call. As you'll read in a minute. And please do excuse my square-looking Balm Stain on the left there looking a little sorry for it's self, this one isn't my favorite but I have used it a fare bit compared to the others and the writing has sadly scratched off some how in my handbag so apologies. The color payoff for these balms are ridiculously good. These retail for £7.99 GBP but I'd pay much more. These also taste minty which is just a bonus and I was very chuffed with.
On the left is a Matte Balm in "Striking". I'd describe this as a slightly orange cherry red.
On the right is the Matte Balm in "Sultry". Which is a plum-pink/brown.I will just throw it out there now; Sultry is my favorite. It's very much a Kylie Jenner shade and reminds me of my MAC satin lipstick in "Brave".
The staying power for the Matte Balms last for around 2-3 hours before turning into a ring around your lips (man I hate that). I'd say the Matte Balms last longer than the others without drying your lips out or creasing. It goes on super creamy and...well balm like.

On the left is the shade "Demure" which is a good glossy nude/pink. I clearly bit the bullet with this one, literally hah (apologies it had to be done). It;s my least favorite because of the glitter in.
On the right is the shade "Whimsical" which is purple in the bullet but sheer so on the lips a fuchsia pink.
The lacquer balms have small but prominent pieces of glitter in which do transfer onto the lips when the balm is applied. It's the same with some of Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butters (eg: Peach Parfait). Which unfortunately I prefer not to look for in a lip product. I feel like the glitter shows up more in "Demure" than "Whimsical". These last for around 2 hours.
This is the Balm Stain in "Honey". Despite the way it looks in the bullet this shade when swatched is lighter and more of a pink-nude/brown color. Revlon brought their Balm Stains out first if I'm correct and it tastes like they've improved the scent and taste of the balms since because the Matte and Lacquer balms taste more pleasant. But the scent is still mint. This lasts for around 3 hours.
The formulation is significantly thicker than the other formulations which I quite like. And all of the crayons just glide onto the lips and feel buttery and gorgeous!
Summary
Pros: A shade for everyone,
Creamy formulations,
Incredible color payoff,
You get a lot for your money.
Cannot go wrong with a minty taste right?
Cons: Because of the soft formulation, the staying power isn't strong.
I really love these balms and would recommend them to anyone. These are up there with my MAC lipsticks, well done Revlon! Do follow me, +1 and follow me on Facebook and Twitter, because it's super easy and you'll make my day. Thanks, Holly.
